My Story…

My Menopause Story began like I’m sure so many other women…

I wasn’t prepared!

I had very little knowledge about menopause, and had never even heard of perimenopause, so when my first hot flash came at age forty-eight, I assumed that it meant I was in menopause. Seemed pretty easy…

Oh, how wrong I was!

The hot flashes were bearable, but I soon I began to gain weight and my joints began to ache. I had no idea these were symptoms of perimenopause.

So I silently suffered. I assumed that my now sedentary job was the culprit of my weight gain. I internally criticized myself because I couldn’t get the weight off! The joint pain…oh my! You see, I had spent twenty + years as a stunt woman, so I chalked all that pain up to the abuse I had put my body through!

A few years later the insomnia kicked in, followed by waves of panic that I could not explain! I was felt I was loosing myself, and secretly feeling like there had to be something very wrong with me.

In 2022 I caught the dreaded COVID for the first time.

It was rough!

I ended up with a stay in the hospital as they tried to get my breathing under control. Two weeks after contracting Covid, I ended up in full blown menopause!

My cycle stopped cold turkey!

It seemed I lost the elasticity in my skin almost over night! My hair became brittle and started falling out. I had restless leg every time I tried to lay down to sleep. I had depressive thoughts.

It was as if I my body had been snatched and was now residing in some unknown person!

I had brain fog and lack of motivation, but I still tried to show up the way I always had. It was taking a toll on me! My libido was shot, and it caused distance in the relationship with my husband. Trying to be an encouraging, he would say, “Try focusing on good things.”

I knew he was right, but when he said things like that it made me want to scream!!

By the end of 2022 and heading into 2023, I knew that I had to do something! It was time to take my life back so I set out on my journey. My goal was to learn everything I could about this mid-life change women experience and no one talks about.

I learned that we all have a menopause story.

And we want answers!

Don’t accept, “it’s just what you have to go through.”

I am sharing my story to let you know you are not alone and there are answers to bring you back into living the life that you loved!

Let’s talk!
